Max. Size: 18 cm Fun Fact: It feeds by repeatedly taking in mouthfuls of sand, sifting out tiny benthic invertebrates, and expelling the sand from its gill openings. It occurs in pairs and uses burrows as a refuge. The burrow this species creates is shallow, only a few centimeters, and made under large pieces of rubble.
